Mont Sainte Anne & Whistler Double Header

Mont Sainte Anne & Whistler Double Header

It’s a double header weekend in Canada and a pretty good one at that!

Jenna and myself, were on the east coast at the infamous Mont-Sainte-Anne DH World Cup with a new technical, and even longer track, than previous years. Unfortunately, an X-ray revealed a crack in Jenna's thumb so she will miss this race, and Crankworx but is aiming to be back in time for world champs!

The track started wet with rain early in the week but the forecast only set to get better. After a solid start I went fastest in timed training by almost 3 seconds. We were feeling good for qualifying and the track was starting to dry out nicely. After a couple stalls in my run I finished 5th which was another good day for points and perfect for finals day.

The dirt finals day morning for practice was pretty much hero conditions, but with temperatures soaring and the wind coming in the track was going to be dust bowl by mid afternoon! I pushed on hard with only a couple of small mistakes for another podium 2 weeks in a row with 5th place...a real great feeling backing up snowshoe and in front of a sell out crowd!

Straight after the crew got packing and we headed to saint Anne to watch Eddie, Morgane and Matt tackle the huge new EWS course for RD 4! It was a huge day for all in the heat with some amazing tracks but also some pretty harsh liaisons with hike a bikes!

Eddie unfortunately lost some of his food during a stage and was running on reserves by the end but still managed a very impressive 5th place finish and hanging onto 3rd in the overall!

Matt after sharing some of his food with Ed hammered all day and even recovering after one small crash coming in an amazing 4th place!! Actually just 0.05 ahead of Eddie! Matt also now sitting in 9th overall.

After a slow start in the pro stage for Morgane she managed to turn it around when it counted winning the Queen stage by an incredible 15 seconds and placing 2nd overall for the day! Also tightening the gap on the championship and hanging onto 2nd.

2nd team of the day but still leading the team overall heading into the second half of the EWS season!

Well, it was a good weekend in West Virginia...
We've headed stateside and the weather decided to be the exact opposite and rain almost all week making the slipperiest track we have ever seen.
Unfortunately it was a wild ride for Jenna as what started off as some good practiced ended with a big crash in timed training and an injured hand. After some scans and being protected for final's she decided to just roll the gate and save it for race day. After only one single practice run before finals Jenna got into the adrenaline zone and pushed on for what almost was a winning race run...coming through the last split in the lead before a small slide out costing her big time... Still able to get back on the bike and finishing 4th keeping her 3rd place overall and salvaging what was almost a write off of a weekend. The girl is a fighter! Some more X-rays this week ahead of Mont saint Anne to make sure everything is okay!
Well my week started off pretty good knowing the track was going to be super technical in the wet and feeling good out the gate with a 2nd in timed practice. Next up was qualifying where I would slot into 3rd place, a career best. On race day I felt great but first run down hit a slippery root 15 seconds in and crashed into a tree that snapped my brake lever...Pushed back up to the top and barney got another one on but with only enough time for 1 practice run. We made it happen and stayed positive and focused knowing the track was drying through the day for finals.
My race run was anything but perfect, but I pushed on even though I almost threw it away a few times...coming into the finish line into 1st place has only happened a few times in my Carrer and doing it after qualifying 3rd I knew I was on for a career best finish. Unfortunately it wasn't quite a win with Amaury Pierron beating me by 0.4 or a second...so close to the win but also my best ever with 2nd at a world cup!
Its been an unreal time chasing a top 3 at a world cup and coming so close to the win...we are gonna keep pushing with all your support so thank you so much and see you at Mont Saint Anne this weekend!

The first Enduro was a sunny delight in the south of Scotland this past week with Eddie, Morgane and Matt kicking of things off!
      EWS Tweed Valley Matt Walker
Matt was coming back off a long break from racing but feeling fit and ready to get back on the clock. After some super tight and twisty tracks with super tight times Matt finished in 53rd just 20 seconds back on a top 20 after almost 20 minutes of racing. feeling confident once he gets that race feeling back he will be up at the front where he belongs.

      EWS Tweed Valley Morgane Charre

Morgane was stoked to be back with the whole crew and excited for the season. Finishing in a solid 7th place after running top 5 until crashing on the last stage Morgane is right back where she left off in the sharp end of the field and ready for a season of podiums!
Eddie was feeling good coming off his top 20 World cup finish in For William just a week ago and was eager to get his Enduro suit on! After not lighting things up on the first "pro stage" he knew he needed to turn it up for the full race day. He pushed on for a very tight men's field and finished in a super solid 8th place!
